How to Install a WordPress Theme

  1. Download the theme ZIP file to your computer.
  2. Log in to your WordPress Admin Dashboard.
  3. Go to Appearance → Themes.
  4. Click Add New → Upload Theme.
  5. Select the theme ZIP file and click Install Now.
  6. After installation is complete, click Activate to use the theme.
How to Install a WordPress Theme Using FTP

If the theme is too large to upload through the WordPress dashboard, you can install it via FTP.

  • Extract the theme ZIP file on your computer.
  • Connect to your website using an FTP client (such as FileZilla).
  • Navigate to: /wp-content/themes/
  • Upload the extracted theme folder to the themes directory.
  • Log in to WordPress Admin Dashboard → Appearance → Themes and click Activate.

How to Install a WordPress Plugin Manually

Method 1: Upload from WordPress Dashboard

  1. Download the plugin ZIP file.
  2. Go to Plugins → Add New → Upload Plugin.
  3. Choose the ZIP file and click Install Now, then Activate.

Method 2: Install via FTP

  • Extract the plugin ZIP file.
  • Upload to: /wp-content/plugins/
  • Go to Plugins in dashboard and click Activate.

Troubleshooting

  • Ensure you are uploading the correct installable ZIP package (not the unpacked documentation package).
  • If you receive an upload size limit error, increase your PHP upload limits or install via FTP instead.
  • After installation, clear your website and browser cache if changes do not appear immediately.
